The entire Tawa pool complex is hired on Monday and Thursday nights. Swimmers are enrolled in one 60-minute session per week on a Monday or Thursday evening. There is also a 3.30pm session available on a Monday or Thursday. Choice of session is dependent on spaces being available in your child's level, and on a membership subscription having been paid.
We currently accept children who can swim 100m Freestyle continuously, and are able to swim all four strokes. Our focus is learn to swim Fast, not Learn to Swim. Swimmers who have completed Learn to Swim programmes find the transition to swim club easier than those who have not. Generally, swimmers are aged 8 years and above.
There is NO swimming during school holidays or on public holidays.
Our club coaches are volunteers, the majority of whom have the NZ Swim Teacher Award. Several have trained as Teachers of Competitive Strokes.
A swimmer is assigned a lane based on their capabilites, not their age.
It is a legal requirement for children under the age of nine to have a parent or adult caregiver poolside. We encourage all parents to take the opportunity to watch their children develop as swimmers, meet other parents and help with setting up and returning equipment.
Swimmers attending the swim sessions must pay pool entrance; concession tickets are available.
If you are interested in having your child assessed please contact our Club Captain to arrange a time: firstname.lastname@example.org
